Senior Pharmacist – Hospital Pharmacy Operations

About the role

The Senior Pharmacist will lead daily pharmacy operations in a tertiary care hospital, ensuring safe dispensing, efficient inventory management, and compliance with all regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily pharmacy dispensing and distribution activities.
• Implement and monitor SOPs for pharmacy processes.
• Ensure compliance with drug storage, handling, and security protocols.
• Supervise pharmacists, assistants, and interns.
• Manage procurement in collaboration with the Procurement department.
• Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and batch recalls.
• Conduct regular stock audits and implement inventory management systems.
• Maintain product quality and regulatory compliance, coordinating with QA/QC teams.
• Facilitate audits related to pharmacy operations and supply chain.
• Liaise with approved vendors, negotiate prices, and evaluate performance.
• Assist in pharmacy budget planning and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Conduct training programs on inventory management, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
• Mentor junior pharmacists and support staff.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure availability of critical medicines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (mandatory); Master’s degree preferred.
• 8–10 years of progressive experience in hospital pharmacy operations and supply chain management.
• 3–5 years in a supervisory or senior‑level role, preferably in a tertiary care hospital.
• Strong background in inventory control, medication distribution systems, procurement, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with accreditation standards such as JCI, NABH, or ISO.
