Senior Software Engineer – Java Backend (Hybrid, Dublin)

About the role

As a Senior Java Developer on Daon's TrustX SaaS platform, you will design, build, and improve cloud‑based backend services that power identity verification, authentication and voice solutions. The role suits engineers who enjoy solving complex challenges, understand end‑to‑end system flows and collaborate closely with frontend, DevOps, mobile and QA teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java/Spring Boot backend services and REST APIs.
• Implement data processing pipelines, service integrations and cloud‑native logic.
• Write maintainable, testable code and comprehensive unit/integration tests.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth feature delivery and integration.
• Profile, optimise and monitor services for performance, scalability and observability.
• Leverage GitHub Copilot and other AI tools to accelerate development and improve code quality.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend or full‑stack development experience, preferably in SaaS environments.
• Strong proficiency in Java and frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring MVC and Hibernate.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Git, Maven/Gradle and modern development practices.
• Ability to understand end‑to‑end system design, data flows and cloud‑native production behaviour.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
