Senior Systems Administrator – Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Systems Administrator – Infrastructure Engineer, you will join Citco’s Virtualization and Storage team within the Infrastructure Support group in Cork. You will help ensure that clients have continuous access to critical information assets while keeping the company at the forefront of virtualization and storage technology trends.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and manage the virtualization and storage infrastructure, keeping hardware and software up‑to‑date.
• Implement methodologies, standards and best practices, and automate manual tasks to increase efficiency.
• Integrate new storage devices, projects and emerging technologies.
• Define and implement disaster‑recovery (DR) and high‑availability (HA) strategies.
• Produce usage reports, capacity planning and growth forecasts.
• Monitor Service Desk queues, manage incidents and vendor escalations.
• Provide 8×5 operational support, respond to calls and emails, and participate in an on‑call rotation for emergencies.
• Resolve and document system errors, perform root‑cause analysis for critical outages.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with storage and virtualization infrastructure in enterprise environments.
• 3–5 years experience with VMware ESXi and vSAN.
• 1–3 years experience with traditional SAN/NAS solutions such as NetApp, Oracle ZFS or Dell PowerStore.
• 1–3 years experience with hyper‑converged infrastructure (Nutanix, SimpliVity or VxRail).
• Experience with automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Ansible or Jenkins.
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and operations, self‑motivated, analytical and detail‑oriented.
