Senior Systems Administrator

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to develop, manage and administer the unified IT infrastructure for Trinity College Dublin’s new E3 Learning Foundry. The role will focus on software deployment, system administration for computer labs and BYOD environments, and the upkeep of approximately 400 PCs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain the unified IT infrastructure within the E3 Learning Foundry.
• Oversee software distribution and PC imaging for roughly 400 workstations.
• Ensure the infrastructure meets agreed service levels and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with the E3 Operations Manager, AV specialist, school representatives and external support partners.
• Provide and receive backup support within the Teaching & Learning IT team.
• Report to the Teaching & Learning IT Manager.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in systems administration and large‑scale PC management.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and resolve technical problems.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with academic and technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Software distribution tools (e.g., SCCM, MDT or equivalent).
• PC imaging systems (e.g., WDS, Ghost, or similar).
• Windows operating system administration.
• Network management for wired and Wi‑Fi environments.
• Understanding of AV over IP technologies.
