Sensors Tools/Software Engineer

About the role

Join a leading semiconductor company in Cork and help shape the future of sensing technology. You will work on cutting‑edge sensor signal processing and machine‑learning algorithms that power smartphones, automotive systems, IoT devices and wearables.

Key responsibilities

• Implement sensor signal‑processing and ML algorithms on embedded System‑on‑Chip platforms.
• Debug, verify and optimise C/C++ code generated from MATLAB/Python prototypes, focusing on performance, memory, power and complexity.
• Support deployment of algorithms and assist other development and test teams.
• Prototype new solutions on reference hardware and document implementation flows and software architecture.
• Participate in broader sensor systems‑engineering activities within the Sensors Technologies group.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of software development experience, especially in digital signal processing and machine‑learning implementation.
• Strong ability to translate MATLAB‑coded algorithms into efficient C/C++ code, including fixed‑point and quantisation considerations.
• Experience with real‑time operating systems (RTOS) and multi‑threaded programming.
• Proficiency in Python and MATLAB for algorithm development and testing.
• Good understanding of common sensors such as accelerometers, gyroscopes and magnetometers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
