About the role
We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our engineering team, focusing on building reliable integrations, APIs, and backend services that support scalable data, analytics, and AI‑enabled capabilities. You will design, develop, test, and maintain software components that connect internal platforms, services, data products, and customer‑facing applications while collaborating with product, data engineering, data science, and architecture teams.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integration components that support business and technology capabilities.
- Build secure, scalable, and maintainable software solutions using modern engineering practices.
- Develop and support RESTful APIs, service‑to‑service integrations, and data exchange patterns across internal platforms.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, testing, and release activities to ensure high‑quality software delivery.
- Apply secure coding, logging, monitoring, and operational readiness practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and contribute to long‑term reliability improvements.
- Contribute to automation, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering process improvements that reduce manual effort.
- Follow Mastercard technology, security, privacy, and compliance standards in solution design and implementation.
Required profile
- 3+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience building backend services, APIs, or integration solutions.
- Strong programming experience in Java, Python, or a similar modern language.
- Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs and working with microservices‑style architectures.
- Good understanding of the software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, code review, CI/CD, and production support.
- Experience with SQL and relational or analytical data stores.
- Familiarity with Git, Unix/Linux environments, shell scripting, and automated build/deployment pipelines.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Understanding of secure coding practices, authentication/authorization patterns, data protection, and operational controls.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
