Software Engineer

About the role

Join NetApp’s Research and Development team as a Software Engineer and help shape the next generation of our flagship storage operating system. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience across the full product lifecycle, from definition and design to implementation, testing, and early customer support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new features and sustain existing functionality for the storage OS.
• Participate in all phases of the product development cycle, including design, coding, debugging, and testing.
• Collaborate with QA, System Test Engineering, and other engineering teams to understand customer use cases and deliver integrated solutions.
• Handle engineering escalations and provide early support to customers.

Required profile

• Strong interest in systems‑focused software development.
• Team‑oriented mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related field.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C and C++ programming.
• Experience with Unix/Linux system programming.
• Solid understanding of operating‑system internals.
• Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and multithreaded programming.
