Software Engineer – Open Source Systems

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join an Open Source Engineering team within a leading global technology organisation. The team drives the use, contribution, and distribution of open‑source software, building tooling and infrastructure for compliance, SBOM generation, and governance at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and support full‑stack web applications and services.
• Build and extend automation, workflows, and tooling to optimise open‑source review and compliance processes.
• Develop systems for Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) generation and software composition analysis.
• Integrate applications with engineering tools, platforms, and internal systems.
• Collaborate with compliance, legal, product engineering, IT, and release engineering teams to support open‑source initiatives.

Required profile

• 5+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and modern engineering practices.
• Experience designing and developing web services, applications, and microservice architectures.
• Expert‑level Python development with Django and React.
• Experience building asynchronous task processing systems using Celery and RabbitMQ.
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL.
