Software Engineer – Triage Intelligence & Debug Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join Apple’s Triage Intelligence and Debug Engineering team. The role focuses on deep OS internals, building automated pipelines, and applying ML/AI to improve crash triage across iPhone, Mac, and Apple Silicon devices.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze crash logs, kernel panics and core dumps to identify root causes.
• Collaborate with software, hardware and silicon teams to propose fixes and close coverage gaps.
• Encode triage logic into automation pipelines for scalable, hands‑free classification and escalation.
• Apply machine‑learning techniques such as crash clustering, anomaly detection and pattern recognition to enhance triage accuracy.
• Develop debug tooling, scripts and CI/CD integrations that surface OS‑level signals and validate platform stability at scale.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of operating‑system concepts including process/thread lifecycle, virtual memory, scheduling, synchronization and system calls.
• Ability to read and interpret crash reports, kernel panics, backtraces and perform basic memory analysis.
• Experience with debugging tools such as LLDB, GDB or Instruments.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation and test infrastructure.
