Software Engineering Manager

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Decision Management program team in its Dublin office. The role combines people management with hands‑on development, driving real‑time decision‑making services that help prevent fraud on Mastercard transactions worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a software engineering team, including performance reviews and technical guidance.
• Translate business priorities into a roadmap and ensure delivery of business value.
• Collaborate with architects to align the team with architecture guidelines.
• Apply best development practices to produce well‑designed, maintainable, testable, scalable, and secure code.
• Manage personal workload while coordinating with teammates to achieve project goals.

Required profile

• Strong people‑management and leadership abilities.
• Extensive Java programming experience.
• Proficiency with Spring and related frameworks.
• Experience with unit testing and mocking frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito or EasyMock.
• Solid SQL skills and experience with Oracle databases.
• Background in high‑performance, real‑time applications.
• Excellent problem‑diagnostic and creative problem‑solving capabilities.
