Specialist Clinical Pharmacist – Mental Health (Permanent)

About the role

The NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate is seeking a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist to join the Mental Health services in North‑East Fife. Based at Stratheden Hospital, you will manage a caseload of inpatient and outpatient mental health patients, providing expert prescribing and medication advice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of mental health patients across inpatient and community settings.
• Provide independent prescribing (or undertake training) and ensure safe, clinically effective use of medicines.
• Develop and maintain medication governance for high‑risk medicines within mental health services.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, community mental health teams, primary care and community pharmacies.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives and educational supervision of pharmacy staff.

Required profile

• Qualified clinical pharmacist with experience in mental health pharmacy.
• Independent prescribing qualification or willingness to train.
• Strong knowledge of medication safety and high‑risk medicine governance.
• Ability to work independently and travel across Fife as service demand requires.
