Staff Nurse – Children’s Disability Residential Service

About the role

The Talbot Group is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join its Children’s Disability Residential Service in Startford‑on‑Slaney, Wicklow. You will deliver person‑centred care to residents with intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injury or autism, supporting their health, wellbeing and personal development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 12‑hour shift nursing care across a 14‑day roster, ensuring privacy, dignity and respect for each resident.
• Support residents in achieving personal goals, including education and skill development, in line with individual care plans.
• Conduct regular health assessments, monitor medical conditions and liaise with GPs or accompany residents to appointments.
• Administer and manage medication according to An Bord Altranais guidelines and Talbot Group policies.
• Perform all clinical procedures within the scope of nursing practice and document care accurately.

Required profile

• Registered nurse on the Intellectual Disability/Mental Health division of the Live Register of Nurses (INMB) or eligible for registration.
• Experience in residential, respite or day‑service settings for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Knowledge of person‑centred planning, clinical policies, human‑resource procedures and relevant legislation.
• Familiarity with National Disability Standards (HIQA).
