Staff Nurse / Enhanced Nurse

About the role

This full‑time temporary position provides specialist nursing care within the Crannog Children’s Respite Service for young people aged 6‑18 with complex medical, physical, autism and behavioural needs. The role also covers occasional shifts at other children’s services across Galway.

Key responsibilities

• Support and implement individualised developmental and educational programmes for children.
• Deliver clinical nursing interventions for children with complex health needs.
• Maintain high standards of nursing practice, ensuring physical, social and emotional wellbeing.
• Educate and support care assistants, families and multidisciplinary team members.
• Participate in person‑centred planning, reviews and team meetings.
• Work flexible hours, including day, night, on‑call and sleep‑in duties as required.

Required profile

• Current Live Register Certificate from the NMBI (An Bord Altranais).
• RNID qualification is highly desirable.
• Minimum six months experience working with children or in an intellectual disability setting.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Basic IT proficiency.
