Staff Nurse - High Dependency Unit (HDU)

About the role

The successful candidate will help ensure a caring, creative environment within the allocated ward/directorate, focusing on the highest quality nursing care. The staff nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to professional and ethical standards within the hospital's nursing model. The role operates within a high‑dependency unit where patients require close monitoring and specialised nursing support.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients admitted to the High Dependency Unit and identify clinical needs.
• Develop, document and regularly update individualized care plans.
• Deliver nursing interventions, monitor patient progress and adjust care as required.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated patient management.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to infection‑control and safety policies.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding care plans and recovery.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualified to practice in Ireland.
• Experience or strong interest in high‑dependency or acute care nursing.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills and high ethical standards.
• Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations and prioritize patient safety.
