Staff Nurse – Intellectual Disability Services

About the role

Peamount Healthcare is seeking a Staff Nurse to join its Intellectual Disability Services team in Newcastle, Co. Dublin. The role provides holistic, person‑centred nursing care to residents, working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to promote health, wellbeing and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan and deliver nursing care for adults with intellectual disabilities.
• Administer medication, monitor health status and respond to clinical changes.
• Develop and review individual care plans in collaboration with therapy and social care teams.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with HSE policies.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and audit activities.
• Support the education and development of junior staff and students.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification and current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
• Relevant experience in intellectual disability, mental health or community nursing.
• Ability to work full‑time (37.5 hrs) or part‑time as required.
• Commitment to person‑centred, respectful and collaborative care.

• Clinical assessment and care planning.

• Accurate record‑keeping and documentation.
• Infection control and health‑and‑safety practices.
