Staff Software Engineer - Client Apps

About the role

Dolby is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and evolution of client‑side applications across a variety of platforms. You will work on mobile, desktop, TV, and emerging form‑factor apps, influencing architecture and technical standards while staying hands‑on on critical features.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership for client applications, shaping architecture and engineering standards.
• Own and evolve core shared subsystems, balancing scalability, reliability, performance, and developer productivity.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver mobile, web, demo, and prototype applications.
• Drive adoption of modern workflows such as CI/CD, automation, and AI‑assisted development.
• Mentor engineers and guide problem‑solving approaches across diverse technology stacks.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in client‑side software development and senior technical leadership.
• Passion for multimedia processing, including audio, video, signal processing, acoustics, imaging, or machine learning.
• Ability to work hands‑on on complex, high‑impact features while influencing broader technical direction.
