Student Advisor – Access Programme

About the role

The Maynooth Access Programme (MAP) is seeking a dedicated Student Advisor to join its Access Office. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the advisor will provide personalised guidance and support to students from groups identified in the National Access Plan as having low participation in higher education. The role has a particular emphasis on assistive technology to ensure inclusive learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one and group advisory sessions to MAP students, helping them navigate academic, personal and financial aspects of university life.
• Conduct individual needs assessments and coordinate appropriate internal and external support services.
• Collaborate with university departments, external agencies and specialist staff to integrate assistive technology solutions.
• Maintain accurate records of student interactions, support plans and outcomes.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of MAP policies and outreach activities.

• Experience working with diverse student populations, including those with disabilities or complex needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport.
• Ability to work collaboratively across academic and administrative units.
