Support Pharmacist

About the role

We are looking for a Support Pharmacist to join our team and assist the Managing Pharmacist in running a busy community dispensary. The role focuses on maintaining high ethical standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering excellent customer care.

Key responsibilities

• Observe statutory regulations for the supply of medicinal products in line with the Pharmacy Act 2007/2008.
• Follow dispensing standard operating procedures, maintain accurate records and uphold pharmacy hygiene.
• Identify and report health and safety issues to the Pharmacy Manager.
• Provide advisory support for over‑the‑counter medicines and ensure correct counter‑prescribing procedures.
• Process Department of Health schemes (DPS, LTI, GMS) accurately and reconcile payments monthly.
• Maintain appropriate stock levels, monitor expiry dates and ensure proper storage.
• Supervise the pharmacy in the absence of the Supervising Pharmacist.
• Participate in health promotion, public health initiatives and community vaccination programmes.
• Keep the pharmacy clean, tidy and compliant with health‑and‑safety standards.
• Support retail operations, attend training programmes and stay updated on registration and PSI guidance.
