Support Worker – Learning Disabilities (Day Centre)

About the role

We are looking for compassionate Support Workers to join our day‑centre services in Newtownabbey, providing person‑centred care for adults with learning disabilities, challenging behaviours and complex needs. The role is fast‑paced, rewarding and focused on enhancing the daily lives of service users.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior staff and management in delivering high‑quality support services that promote independence and wellbeing.
• Provide personal care and support with daily living activities tailored to individual assessed needs.
• Facilitate social inclusion by supporting participation in group activities such as arts, crafts, music and community outings.
• Encourage engagement in local leisure visits and events to foster a sense of belonging.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months paid experience delivering direct care in a care environment (or 2 years experience without specific social‑care qualifications).
• Health & Social Care qualification (Level 2 Diploma/NVQ/QCF/VRQ/RCF) or 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Maths.
• Live NI Social Care Council registration (NISCC) and ability to pass enhanced vetting checks.
• Strong communication, patient and empathetic approach, and ability to work effectively within a team.

Required skills

• Health & Social Care qualification (Level 2 Diploma/NVQ/QCF/VRQ/RCF) or equivalent GCSEs.
• Live NI Social Care Council (NISCC) registration.
