Tax Assistant – Senior Associate/Assistant Manager

About the role

Winthrop Technologies is seeking a technically capable and commercially minded Tax Assistant at a Senior Associate/Assistant Manager level to join its in‑house tax function. Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager and working closely with the Finance Director, you will help strengthen tax governance, improve operational efficiency, and maintain robust documentation and controls across the group.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct tax research on domestic and international matters to support business initiatives and strategic decisions.
• Prepare tax simulations, scenario analyses, and planning models for forecasting, budgeting and strategic structuring.
• Support the design, enhancement and documentation of the tax control framework, including RACI matrices, process maps, governance procedures and compliance calendars.
• Identify control gaps and process inefficiencies, working with finance teams on remediation plans.
• Oversee tax compliance activities performed by local finance teams, ensuring accuracy and alignment with group tax positions.
• Coordinate review of adviser reports and tax authority correspondence, summarising impacts of legislative developments such as Pillar 2, e‑invoicing and CBAM.
• Act as the first point of contact for tax‑related queries and coordinate with external advisers.

Required profile

• Technically capable and commercially minded professional.
• Experience in tax research, planning, analysis and governance.
• Ability to design and document tax control frameworks and process improvements.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in scenario modelling and tax simulations.
