Teaching Fellow – Folklore & Ethnology (12‑month contract)

About the role
The School of Irish, Celtic Studies and Folklore at University College Dublin invites an early‑career scholar to join as a Teaching Fellow in Folklore and Ethnology for a twelve‑month fixed‑term appointment. The Fellow will teach undergraduate and MA modules while developing their own research within a vibrant community that draws on the National Folklore Collection.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver undergraduate and MA courses in Folklore and Ethnology.
- Participate in and contribute to departmental research seminars, symposia and collaborative projects.
- Engage with the National Folklore Collection and related fieldwork activities.
- Support curriculum development and assessment processes.
Required profile
- Early‑career researcher, preferably completing or recently awarded a doctorate.
- Background in folklore, ethnology or a closely related discipline.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Motivation to integrate teaching with active research.
Required skills
- Knowledge of folklore and ethnology theories and methods.
- Experience with ethnographic fieldwork.
- Ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
