Technical Officer – Media Studies

About the role

The Media Studies department at Maynooth University is seeking a Technical Officer to support the delivery of teaching, learning and creative projects. Reporting to the Head of Department, you will work closely with academic staff and students across a range of media modules.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for modules such as Short Film, Documentary, Radio Production and TV Studio.
• Manage and maintain audiovisual equipment, digital media resources and the Media Lab facilities.
• Deliver inductions, training and ongoing assistance to staff and students on equipment and teaching software.
• Liaise with University IT Services to ensure integration and upkeep of digital systems.
• Assist in supervising final‑year student projects and contribute to the strategic development of media facilities.

Required profile

• Experience supporting educational environments with a cross‑disciplinary technical background.
• Strong understanding of IT systems and teaching software used in higher education.
• Ability to collaborate with academic staff and manage resources efficiently.
• Proactive attitude towards emerging media technologies.
