Temporary Medical Officer – Community Hospital

About the role

This is a one‑year temporary position for a Medical Officer at a community hospital in Manorhamilton, County Leitrim. The role involves delivering patient care on‑site for 32 hours per week and providing on‑call off‑site cover during specified periods. The appointment may be extended by mutual agreement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical assessment and treatment to in‑patients and out‑patients during scheduled on‑site hours.
• Participate in on‑call duties, offering off‑site cover from early morning to evening on weekdays and afternoons on Fridays.
• Collaborate with senior consultants and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to hospital policies and Irish medical regulations.

Required profile

• Qualified physician (GP or specialist) with active specialist registration on the Irish Medical Council register.
• Relevant clinical experience appropriate to a community hospital setting.
• Willingness to work the defined on‑site schedule and on‑call commitments.
• Ability to commence as soon as possible, ideally by August 2026.
