Trading Law Support Officer

About the role

We are seeking a Trading Law Support Officer to join our Quality, Technical & Sustainability team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will help our retail network stay compliant with Irish Food Law and internal food safety standards, protecting customers, colleagues and the business.

Key responsibilities

• Support stores in meeting Irish Food Law requirements and internal Food Safety Management Systems.
• Review store food‑safety records, identify non‑compliance trends and advise on risk‑based actions.
• Conduct in‑store visits and inspections, providing hands‑on guidance on food‑safety controls.
• Handle correspondence with Environmental Health Officers and coordinate follow‑up actions.
• Advise on cold‑chain management, temperature monitoring and related food‑safety processes.
• Serve as the primary contact for store queries on compliance matters.
• Assist investigations into quality complaints and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Collaborate with enforcement agencies to resolve issues and prevent formal actions.
• Prepare clear reports for Retail Operations and senior technical teams.

Required profile

• Significant experience in retail operations, preferably at store level.
• Background in food safety, compliance or regulatory roles within a retail environment.
• Strong knowledge of food‑safety legislation, risk assessment and audit processes.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver clear messages in challenging situations.
• Analytical mindset with good judgement and risk‑prioritisation abilities.
• Professional, calm demeanor and high personal integrity.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal stakeholders.
