Trainee Store Manager – Retail

About the role

This full‑time Trainee Manager position supports the store management team while providing hands‑on experience across all retail departments. You will develop a deep understanding of store operations, customer service, and merchandising in a fast‑paced grocery environment.

Key responsibilities

• Live the Centra brand values of being Proud, Energetic, Imaginative and Community‑Based.
• Assist in setting, monitoring and achieving sales, gross profit, net margin, waste and other KPI targets.
• Participate in training, development initiatives and performance assessments.
• Maintain store presentation to the highest standard, following planograms and visual guidelines.
• Execute supply procedures including ordering, deliveries, stock rotation and control.
• Manage assigned departments and support cash/till balancing where required.
• Embrace new initiatives and continuously improve store operations.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in the retail industry (desirable).
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Experience with cash handling and fresh‑food retail is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, delegation and teamwork skills.
• Highly driven, strong work ethic, commercial awareness and passion for grocery retail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
