Transport and Logistics Manager – Galway

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Transport and Logistics Manager to lead and optimise logistics and transport operations across three stock locations and direct supplier delivery channels. The role ensures safe, efficient and cost‑effective movement of inbound steel products and outbound customer deliveries throughout Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily transport operations across three stock sites, including scheduling, routing and fleet utilisation to minimise cost per load.
• Coordinate inbound raw‑material deliveries and maintain optimal stock levels for the production facility.
• Support project‑based deliveries with tight schedules, particularly for the construction sector.
• Liaise with production, procurement and sales teams to align logistics with demand and optimise load weight and routing.
• Oversee third‑party fleet contracts, negotiate terms and monitor performance.
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations, health & safety standards and company SOPs.
• Maintain real‑time accuracy in the ERP system and generate sales invoices at point of shipment.
• Track, analyse and optimise KPIs such as OTIF, cost per tonne delivered and stock‑location transfer costs.
• Drive adoption of technology solutions (ERP, TMS, digital planning tools) to improve visibility and efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing multi‑site transport and logistics operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of freight cost optimisation, routing and fleet utilisation.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with internal teams and external transport providers.
• Ability to ensure regulatory compliance and uphold health & safety standards.
• Analytical mindset with experience monitoring and improving logistics KPIs.
