Clinical Nurse Education Facilitator

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Education Facilitator will lead the development and delivery of clinical education within the department, fostering professional growth for staff nurses and nursing students. This role ensures high‑quality patient care through continuous learning, supervision, and the promotion of best practice standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the clinical educational needs of the department and create a supportive learning environment.
• Coordinate orientation for new staff and deliver ongoing professional development and in‑service training.
• Supervise newly qualified nurses and new team members in collaboration with senior nursing managers.
• Monitor and communicate individual progress, provide feedback, and identify further training needs.
• Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and guidelines to meet statutory requirements.
• Support staff in preparing for competency in the new digital hospital and encourage quality‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Registered on the live Children’s Division register of the NMBI (or eligible) with at least 5 years post‑registration experience, including 2 years in children’s nursing.
• Current practice in children’s nursing and a Level 8 NFQ qualification in the specialist area.
• Proven experience supervising nursing staff and students.
• Knowledge of recognizing and managing the acutely ill child.
• Strong clinical, managerial and administrative capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to continuous professional development.
