Design Project Engineer – Mechanical (Fleet Remediation)

About the role

Amazon is seeking a Mechanical Design Project Engineer to lead design initiatives across operational data centers. You will own the mechanical design for upgrades, remediation projects, and new infrastructure that enhance capacity, availability, and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design projects that remediate issues, upgrade existing infrastructure, or add new services in data centers.
• Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for data centers within the assigned region.
• Collaborate with internal and external design engineering, server hardware, EHS, field, and controls teams to ensure consistent standards.
• Act as the technical subject‑matter expert for mechanical discipline on concurrent, multi‑regional projects.
• Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover phases.
• Develop solutions that increase capacity, improve availability, and advance sustainability goals.

Required profile

• Mechanical engineering background with experience in data‑center or industrial design.
• Proven ability to lead complex design projects and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills to interface with cross‑functional engineering and safety teams.
• Experience reviewing equipment submittals and ensuring compliance with standards.
