Director – Strategic Communications (15‑month FTC)

About the role

FTI Consulting is looking for a Director to lead strategic communications for its Dublin office on a 15‑month fixed‑term contract. The role will support a portfolio of domestic and international clients across corporate communications, public affairs and ESG initiatives. You will work closely with senior advisors and have the opportunity to travel to other offices in the network.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee communications materials such as briefing documents, press releases and position papers.
• Design and execute integrated corporate communications and media‑relations programmes, including proactive media engagement and journalist briefings.
• Analyse media coverage and sentiment, delivering actionable insights and recommendations to clients.
• Conduct in‑depth research on public policy, regulatory developments and reputational risk.
• Build and maintain relationships with key media, political and industry stakeholders.
• Support business development by identifying opportunities, shaping proposals and assisting with pitch processes.
• Lead horizon‑scanning of Irish and European policy landscapes and advise clients on emerging risks and opportunities.
• Develop policy positions, stakeholder‑engagement strategies and support targeted advocacy and lobbying activities.
• Advise clients on the implications of Ireland’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in strategic communications, corporate communications or public affairs.
• Strong understanding of media relations, investor relations, ESG, crisis management, sustainability and cybersecurity topics.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality communications content and deliver strategic advice to senior clients.
• Excellent analytical skills and the capacity to translate complex policy issues into clear recommendations.
• Willingness to travel internationally as required.
