Equipment Technician – Weekend Shift

About the role
Alcon is seeking an Equipment Technician to join its Cork manufacturing site on a weekend shift. You will support the Engineering team by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving process equipment used to produce eye‑care products.
Key responsibilities
- Execute equipment procurement, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on manufacturing process equipment.
- Assist Process Engineering with change implementations to drive process improvements and reduce scrap.
- Report daily to the Engineering Manager and flag issues that could affect production.
- Maintain equipment literature, work orders, and the preventive‑maintenance database.
- Monitor OEE downtime tracking, update equipment logs, and support non‑conforming investigations and audits.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of experience in equipment installation, maintenance or repair within a manufacturing environment.
- Level 6 qualification (or higher) in an Engineering or Technical discipline.
- Familiarity with ISO, FDA and GMP standards.
- Problem‑solving mindset and ability to work independently on a weekend shift.
Required skills
- SQL for data queries and analysis.
- PLC programming/operation experience, preferably Allen Bradley.
- PC building and repair.
- Operation of packaging equipment.
- Knowledge of equipment literature management and preventive‑maintenance systems.
