Lab IT Application Specialist (CSV Engineer)

About the role

Cognizant is seeking a Lab IT Application Specialist to act as the lead contact for all laboratory IT applications at a pharmaceutical site. The role covers the full application lifecycle, including new system deployments, upgrades, and ongoing Business‑as‑Usual support.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Business Owners to implement new applications, upgrade existing systems, and manage transitions between companies.
• Coordinate with vendors to ensure proper installation and configuration of instrument software.
• Prioritise and deliver agreed changes, implementing releases and establishing standards for security, capacity, high availability, and risk management.
• Troubleshoot lab IT applications and instrument issues, working with external vendors when needed.
• Configure and manage Development, Validation, and Production environments for Chromatography Data Systems and related applications.
• Support CSV Engineer in validation activities following internal CSV procedures.
• Administer application security and ensure compliance with GMP, global and local SOPs, and support regulatory audits (FDA, HPRA).
• Liaise with Infrastructure/IT Manager to address laboratory support requirements.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years experience as an IT specialist supporting laboratory systems such as LIMS or Chromatography Data Systems.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory processes in an HPRA/FDA‑regulated pharmaceutical environment and experience with GMP/GxP standards.
• Hands‑on technical IT background with experience in business applications and infrastructure technologies.
