Medical Registrar – Hospital Role

About the role

The Medical Registrar will join the multidisciplinary team at UPMC Whitfield Hospital to deliver high‑quality inpatient medical care. Working under the supervision of Consultant Physicians, the registrar will manage patients from admission through discharge and support the broader medical service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide medical consultations for surgical and medical patients as required.
• Admit patients to the Medical Floor and oversee their care from admission to discharge.
• Attend daily ward rounds, take handovers, and ensure continuity of care.
• Document clinical findings, assessments, and treatment plans promptly and legibly.
• Prepare detailed discharge summaries for approval by the Consultant Physician.
• Manage medical information needed for insurance claims and support claim processing.
• Participate in family meetings, respond to adverse events, and contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Assist in the education of junior staff and engage in hospital projects.
• Adhere to hospital policies, health‑and‑safety regulations, and professional standards.

Required profile

• Medical qualification with eligibility to work as a registrar.
• Ability to work under the direction of Consultant Physicians.
• Strong organisational skills for patient admission, handover, and documentation.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Willingness to participate in education, meetings, and hospital initiatives.
