Regional HR Officer

About the role

Smyths Toys is seeking a Regional HR Officer to support its stores in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. You will provide expert HR guidance to line managers, ensuring compliance and helping build high‑performing teams across a fast‑moving retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted HR consultant to line managers, delivering legally compliant advice.
• Manage and optimise HR systems, ensuring data accuracy and providing actionable insights.
• Conduct HR audits in stores and oversee compliance with absence management and other HR policies.
• Lead complex employee‑relations cases, including investigations, disciplinary and grievance meetings.
• Support employee lifecycle processes such as maternity leave and flexible working requests.
• Partner with the business on recruitment across all functional areas.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for managers and employees throughout the region.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HR Officer or Adviser, preferably in a retail setting.
• Strong knowledge of employee‑relations, compliance and HR audits.
• Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills with the ability to influence managers.
• Willingness to travel extensively across Northern Ireland and Dublin, with own car and a full driving licence.
• Self‑starter with a delivery‑focused mindset.
