Senior Instructor – Training & Education for Adults with Disabilities

About the role

The Senior Instructor will design, deliver and evaluate a range of QQI‑accredited training programmes for adults with intellectual disabilities, supporting their personal development, independence and community integration.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Person in Charge when the Manager of Training Services is absent.
• Write, plan, implement and evaluate QQI training programmes covering personal safety, personal care, technology use, visual art, nutrition, relaxation techniques and health‑related exercise.
• Deliver courses that develop specific skills, social development and community integration.
• Support the Day Services Manager and other instructors in delivering modules and keeping individual support plans up‑to‑date in line with New Directions Interim Standards.
• Work positively with participants who present challenging behaviours.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering QQI‑accredited training for adults with intellectual disabilities.
• Ability to lead a training team and act as Person in Charge in the manager’s absence.
• Knowledge of the New Directions Interim Standards and ability to maintain current individual plans.
• Commitment to empowering people with disabilities and promoting autonomy.
