Software Engineer II – Foundry R&D

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Software Engineer II to join its Foundry Research & Development team in Dublin. You will work in a highly agile environment, building high‑performance Java solutions that drive innovative payment products at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement innovative capabilities, including AI‑enabled tooling.
• Collaborate with technical leads and fellow developers to define and deliver solutions.
• Research alternative technical approaches to meet evolving business needs.
• Produce design and research documentation for R&D initiatives.
• Help transition R&D prototypes into Mastercard’s core production environment.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency with Java JDK 17 or newer.
• Experience with Tomcat, Spring, Spring Boot, and shell scripting.
• Familiarity with JSON data handling.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (or similar container orchestration).
• Knowledge of unit‑testing frameworks such as JUnit.
• Exposure to UI development using React.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, Gradle, and Maven.
• Passion for software development and ability to thrive in a fluid, fast‑moving environment.
