Staff Nurse – Residential Care (Co. Louth)

About the role

We are seeking a Registered General Nurse to join St. Peters Nursing Home in County Louth. The role involves delivering high‑quality nursing care to elderly residents, supporting their health, wellbeing and daily living needs within a residential setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and review each resident’s care needs, develop and maintain individualised Care Plans in line with An Bord Altranais guidelines.
• Provide direct nursing care, health supervision and medication administration as prescribed.
• Monitor residents’ health status, report illnesses, and arrange GP or specialist visits when required.
• Conduct regular checks, handovers and documentation to ensure continuity of care.
• Collaborate with families, multidisciplinary teams and external health professionals.
• Participate in staff meetings, training and contribute to a safe, supportive environment.
• Identify and report health‑ and safety‑related hazards, and support emergency procedures.

Required profile

• Current registration with An Bord Altranais (Irish Nursing Board).
• Effective communication skills at all levels.
• Genuine interest in caring for elderly residents.
• Team‑player attitude and willingness to work collaboratively.
• Experience or qualification relevant to residential elderly care is desirable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HIQA (Health Information and Quality Authority) standards.
• Ability to administer prescribed medicines safely and accurately.
