Trainee Accountant – Finance Team

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Trainee Accountant to join the Finance Team at West Cork Distillers. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience across a broad range of finance functions within a growing Irish whiskey manufacturing business.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Process purchase invoices, supplier reconciliations and run payments.
• Support sales invoicing, customer account reconciliations and credit control.
• Perform bank reconciliations and daily cash management.
• Maintain accurate financial records and filing.
• Help with VAT returns, audit preparation and compliance reporting.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure correct financial information.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cost‑analysis activities.
• Identify and contribute to process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree or third‑level qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities with high attention to detail.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn in a fast‑paced environment.
• Interest in pursuing a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).

Required skills

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
