Associate Professor – Cybersecurity (AI Security)

About the role

UNSW’s School of Computer Science and Engineering is seeking an Associate Professor to lead research and teaching in cybersecurity and AI security. The role combines high‑impact research, curriculum development and industry collaboration to advance secure, trustworthy intelligent systems.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and publish high‑quality research in AI security, adversarial machine learning, privacy‑preserving AI and related areas.
• Secure competitive research funding and lead research projects.
• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses and contribute to curriculum design.
• Supervise higher degree research students to successful completion.
• Engage with industry partners and contribute to the School’s strategic direction.
• Participate in academic governance and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Required profile

• Established academic with a strong, sustained record of high‑impact publications in cybersecurity and AI security.
• National or international reputation in the field.
• Proven ability to obtain research funding and lead research teams.
• Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the university level.
• Demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills.
