Backend Engineer (Node.js) – Fintech Platform

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong Node.js and TypeScript expertise to join our fast‑growing fintech platform in Ireland. You will help build scalable services that power a digital education and financial empowerment product used by thousands of users.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑performance backend services using Node.js, TypeScript and modern best practices.
• Create and optimise GraphQL and REST APIs for internal and external integrations.
• Manage database schema, performance and reliability with PostgreSQL, SQL and ORM tools such as Prisma.
• Deploy, monitor and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS, following best‑practice security and scalability guidelines.
• Implement event‑driven architectures to improve system responsiveness.
• Integrate third‑party platforms, handling authentication protocols like OAuth and SSO.
• Contribute to a microservices and monorepo architecture, ensuring long‑term scalability.
• Maintain engineering quality through automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and continuous monitoring.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience building backend applications with Node.js, TypeScript and JavaScript.
• Proven experience delivering GraphQL and RESTful APIs in production.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, and ORM frameworks such as Prisma.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services and deployment workflows.
• Familiarity with event‑driven and asynchronous processing patterns.
• Experience integrating third‑party services and implementing OAuth/SSO authentication.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
