Critical Infrastructure Fire Protection Engineer – Data Center

About the role

As a Critical Infrastructure Fire Protection Engineer you will provide end‑to‑end engineering support for AWS data centers, from initial design through construction, commissioning and ongoing operations. You will be the go‑to fire‑protection expert for your region, advising internal teams and external authorities on safety solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the recognized fire‑protection engineering authority for a wide geographic area.
• Develop and maintain relationships with authorities having jurisdiction to ensure compliant and effective fire‑safety solutions.
• Review design documents and equipment submittals for new data‑center projects.
• Perform troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and generate corrective‑action documentation for equipment failures.
• Provide ad‑hoc training, complex procedure reviews and event support for operational issues.
• Mentor customers and partner engineers on fire‑protection principles.
• Own conceptual designs for data‑center upgrades that improve capacity, availability, efficiency and sustainability.
• Lead engineering audits, on‑site visits and produce risk‑based reports with mitigation recommendations.
• Act as resident engineer during construction, commissioning and turnover phases.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in fire‑protection and life‑safety engineering, preferably in data‑center or critical‑infrastructure environments.
• Proven ability to interact with regulatory authorities and internal cross‑functional teams.
• Strong analytical skills for root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action development.
• Experience mentoring and training technical staff.
• Ability to manage multiple projects across different regions.
