Critical Infrastructure Mechanical Engineer – Field Engineering

About the role

Amazon’s AWS Infrastructure Services is looking for a Critical Infrastructure Mechanical Engineer to join the Field Engineering team. You will support the full life‑cycle of AWS data centers, from initial design through upgrades, construction, and ongoing maintenance, ensuring reliability, efficiency and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Provide end‑to‑end engineering support for AWS data centers, including design inception, site improvements and maintenance.
• Act as the regional go‑to engineering resource, reviewing design and equipment submittals for new facilities.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures, conduct root‑cause analysis and produce corrective‑action documentation.
• Lead conceptual designs for capacity upgrades, efficiency improvements and sustainability initiatives.
• Collaborate with operations, design, hardware, EHS and safety teams to maintain consistent standards.
• Initiate and lead on‑site engineering audits, generate risk reports and recommend mitigations.
• Serve as resident engineer during construction, commissioning and turnover phases.

Required profile

• Strong engineering judgement with the ability to make recommendations amid uncertainty.

• Proven experience solving complex problems with engineered solutions in a data‑center or industrial environment.
