Design & Development Engineer I

About the role

Medtronic is seeking a Design & Development Engineer I to join its product development team. The role focuses on creating and improving manufacturing processes for medical devices, leveraging advanced technologies such as 3‑D printing and augmented reality.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of new product development, including process design, technology advancement, automation, vendor and project management, and product lifecycle management.
• Research and apply design, reliability and manufacturability methodologies, using 3‑D drawing/printing and augmented reality to develop solutions.
• Support equipment installation, qualification, troubleshooting, and tooling design.
• Develop optimal process parameters through designed experiments and scientific analysis.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and deliver NPD requirements and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
• Drive process innovation, reduce variation, and implement automated or semi‑automated systems.
• Conduct statistical analysis, apply Six Sigma tools, and document findings for project teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or related discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a medical device environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, fluent in English.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work proactively in cross‑functional settings.
