Design Engineer (Fire Protection)

About the role

Mercury is seeking a Design Engineer to join its fire protection team in Blanchardstown, Dublin. You will be responsible for designing and laying out fire protection systems that meet LPC, NFPA and FM criteria, supporting a range of high‑tech construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design and layout of fire protection systems, including sprinkler design and hydraulic calculations.
• Prepare shop drawings, 2D fire classification block plans, schematics and detailed fire protection drawings.
• Coordinate 3D models with other services using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Liaise with client teams, attend technical meetings and contribute to tender documentation.
• Create installation, construction and fabrication drawings and ensure project close‑out.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
• Experience on UK, Irish or European projects (minimum four years).
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Experience with 3D hydraulic software and AutoSPRINK (or similar).
• Knowledge of BIM software and delivery of LOD 200‑400 models.
• Competent use of Microsoft Office.
