Director of Access

About the role

The Director of Access will provide strategic leadership for Maynooth University’s Access Programme, driving widening participation and inclusion across the institution. This senior role reports to the Vice‑President for Equality & Diversity and shapes national policy to improve access, retention and progression for target groups identified in the National Access Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a sustainable, institution‑wide widening participation strategy.
• Lead the Maynooth Access Programme, ensuring alignment with the university’s strategic plan (2023‑2028).
• Collaborate with academic and administrative units to mainstream access initiatives.
• Represent the university in national policy discussions and contribute to the development of the National Access Plan.
• Monitor and report on access, retention, and progression metrics for target groups.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in higher education or a related sector.
• Demonstrated expertise in widening participation, equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Strong track record of developing and executing strategic programmes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
