Global Indirect Tax Lead

About the role

This strategic position expands a regional indirect tax remit to a global scope, overseeing VAT compliance for a multinational listed on Nasdaq and Swiss exchanges. The role reports to senior tax leadership and works closely with finance, legal, supply chain and commercial teams worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve VAT returns for the EMEA region and oversee filings for complex entities globally.
• Provide expert VAT advice to cross‑functional stakeholders and act as the central point for tax audits and authority inquiries.
• Maintain and enhance VAT determination in Oracle (E‑Business Tax) and Avalara, driving automation and AI initiatives.
• Support e‑invoicing implementation, Oracle Cloud migration, and risk assessments for digital services models.
• Mentor and develop VAT team members, particularly in the Cork hub.

Required profile

• 10+ years of dedicated indirect tax/VAT experience, with strong European VAT expertise.
• Proven track record managing compliance, audits and cross‑border issues for a multinational corporation.
• Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and tax engines such as Avalara.
• Advanced analytical ability with large data sets, preferably using Excel, OneStream, Alteryx or SQL.
• Desirable knowledge of Swiss VAT, e‑commerce/digital services tax models and additional languages (e.g., Spanish).
