Health and Safety Officer

About the role

The role is based in the west of Ireland and supports a large construction company delivering multi‑million‑euro projects across Galway, Clare and Mayo. You will work closely with project teams to ensure the Safety Management System is effectively applied on site.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain strong relationships with internal teams and provide advice on implementing the Safety Management System.
• Establish and monitor risk assessment processes and ensure risks to third parties and contractors are identified and mitigated.
• Contribute ideas for continuous improvement of the company‑wide Safety Management System.
• Stay up‑to‑date with health and safety legislation and liaise with safety organisations and trade associations.
• Lead accident and incident investigations, determine root causes and recommend preventive actions.
• Prepare and present health and safety performance reports to senior managers.
• Promote health and safety awareness among staff and customers.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Minimum 3 + years experience on construction projects in Ireland, preferably multi‑million‑euro sites.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Full clean driving licence.
