Health & Safety Officer – Residential Project (Cork)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join a major residential development in Cork. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will help shape a strong safety culture, implement the company’s Safety Management System, and support the successful delivery of the project.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the construction management team to maintain a safe, compliant, and productive site.
• Monitor and enforce the Health & Safety Management System.
• Identify site‑specific hazards and implement appropriate controls.
• Maintain statutory safety records and site safety folders.
• Ensure contractors adhere to site rules and safety procedures.
• Assist the H&S Manager with risk assessments and the development of safe systems of work.
• Coordinate safe systems of work for subcontractors.
• Conduct site H&S audits and resolve non‑conformances.
• Support accident and incident investigations.
• Prepare and deliver toolbox talks and identify training needs.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years’ experience managing safety systems in construction.
• Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
• IOSH membership (preferred).
• Ability to work independently within the company’s management system.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with site teams, subcontractors and external stakeholders.
