Instrumentation Technician – Fixed Plant Maintenance

About the role

The Lihir operation is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to join the Fixed Plant Maintenance team. You will be responsible for maintaining the safety, availability, and reliability of instrumentation within the Processing Plant.

Key responsibilities

• Execute daily instrumentation maintenance tasks aligned with operational priorities.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on plant instrumentation.
• Report and escalate issues that could affect safety or timelines.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives and reliability enhancements.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal maintenance standards.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10 education with Trade Certification in Electrical or Instrumentation.
• PNG Power Electrical License and Cert 3 in Instrumentation and Control.
• Valid PNG National Driver’s License and recent Police Clearance.
• Willingness to work a FIFO roster and complete a pre‑employment medical assessment.

Required skills

• Installation, diagnostics and maintenance of control valves, weightometers, level, pressure, flow, density, pH and HCN gas measuring instruments.
• Proficiency with DCS control systems and interpretation of electrical/instrumentation diagrams.
• Knowledge of Australian Electrical Installation Standards (AS/NZS 3000).
• Strong fault‑finding, analytical and record‑keeping abilities.
