Maintenance Engineer – Mobile Asset Management

About the role

The Maintenance Engineer will support the integrity and performance of Newmont's mobile mining fleet at the Lihir operation. Reporting to the Supervisor of Engineering – Mobile Asset Management, the role focuses on reliability, risk mitigation and continuous improvement of mobile assets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for all mobile assets across the site.
• Drive maintenance best practices and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Lead equipment improvement projects and manage statutory compliance registers.
• Support risk assessments, Management of Change processes, and safety compliance.
• Participate in troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and failure investigations.
• Lead downtime reviews, defect elimination and prepare performance reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with mobile mining assets and maintenance engineering.
• Proven project management and problem‑solving abilities.
• Knowledge of risk management, safety compliance and statutory requirements.
• Experience using CMMS systems, preferably SAP.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
