Maintenance Technician

About the role

Our client, a leading food manufacturer in Ireland, is expanding its maintenance team in Westmeath. The Maintenance Technician will report to the Maintenance Manager and provide electrical and mechanical support to ensure reliable plant operation on a rotating shift schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Routine checking and monitoring of plant and equipment to ensure optimum performance and contractual compliance.
• Calibration and testing of equipment, alarms, and instrumentation according to CMMS, vendor, and contractual requirements.
• Execute planned mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks and record completion in the CMMS.
• Respond promptly to equipment failures, perform repairs or replacements, and document actions in the CMMS.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, process, and electrical issues using sound engineering principles.
• Identify and manage spares to maintain plant reliability.
• Own permit‑to‑work systems, including LOTO, hot‑work, and general work permits.
• Utilise remote monitoring tools such as BMS to verify plant condition.
• Plan and coordinate shutdowns with management.
• Ensure health, safety, ethical, and quality standards are fully respected.
• Maintain and repair electrical installations, including panel fault finding and VSD replacement.

Required profile

• Mechanical/Electrical qualification – minimum Level 6 certificate.
• Experience in a facility maintenance environment is advantageous.
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic drawings is a plus.
• Knowledge of maintenance practices in a high‑volume manufacturing setting.
